1/16: Restaurant Week, Tiki Drinks, Casa Verde

Updated: Apr 15, 2018

Welcome to DC's source for all the things you should be eating, drinking and doing in the district. Here's where to eat, drink, and be in DC this week.

Eat.

Taberna del Albadero debuts a fresh menu this week from new Executive Chef, Javier Cuesta. You'll find traditional Spanish dishes made from seasonal and locally-sourced ingredients such as a Seasonal Vegetable Salad with Goat Cheese and Honey; Grilled Baby Octopus with Petit Cristal Lettuce, Pomegranate and Chickpeas; and Hake in Zurrukutuna Sauce and Purple Sweet Potatoes.

Winter Restaurant Week is almost upon us (Jan. 22 - 28) and that means it's time to make reservations - my recommendations include Brabo in Alexandria - you'll find a mix of items that are on the regular dinner menu as well as dishes that are representative of the restaurant's culinary style but not typically featured on the regular menu. Other places to check out: Momofuku (items include Salt and Pepper Pork Rinds, Glazed Middleneck Clams, and Mussel Curry), Pinea (choose from Pei Mussels, Caramelized Sea Scallops, Wagyu Burger and more), Joselito (choose from tapas such as Soy Marinated Duck Breast, Pork Tenderloin, Flank Steak with Chimichurri and Lamb Stew) and 701 Restaurant (Cioppino, Hangar Steak, and Ahi Tuna Tartar are among the menu items).

Drink.

Let's all pretend that winter doesn't exist...by drinking tropical drinks. Check out my Drink DC roundup for where to sip on Tiki cocktails when the weather refuses to cooperate.

DC.

Traipse through El Techo's Casa Verde - the roof deck has transformed into a greenhouse complete with a cathedral tent and flower walls covering the entire space. The winter escape wouldn't be complete without heaters and hot cocktails - open at 5 PM.

Play at Pizzeria Paradiso Georgetown's new Game Room - the playful basement space features nostalgic games like Skee-Ball, Pinball, and Big Buck Hunter...because nothing goest better with pizza and beer than arcade games. Full menu is available and happy hour runs Monday - Thursday from 5-7 PM.
