Welcome to DC's source for all the things you should be eating, drinking and doing in the district. Here's where to eat, drink, and be in DC this week.
DC’s newest luxury burger joint opens on March 19 - head over to The Capital Burger at Mount Vernon Square for signature burgers including a Roasted Wild Mushroom and Swiss Burger, Blue Cheese and Truffle Burger and The Capital Burger made with caramelized onions, Wisconsin Grand Cru gruyere and shallot aioli. Be one of the first 100 guests to dine during dinner on opening day (after 4:30pm) and walk away with a gift bag.
Waffle Sundaes are a thing and Fruitive’s City Center location is rolling out an exclusive waffle sandwich special filled with peanut butter, fresh bananas, gluten-free granola, coconut cream, chocolate sauce and cocoa powder stuffed between two gluten-free waffles. Available all day on Sunday, March 25.
Sip on seasonal cocktails at Petworth’s Taqueria del Barrio - the new libations draw inspiration from Latin America, so expect international spirits, fresh fruits and spices in each drink. Try the playfully named “Havana-na-na-na” made with Cruzan coconut rum, toasted coconut, passion fruit and lime juice; “Her Name is Rio” with Avua cachaca, blueberries, sugar and lime; “La Siesta” with Milagro reposado tequila, lime, tamarind syrup and soda; or opt for one of the new margaritas like the “Chapulin Colorado” with Don Julio silver, triple sec, lime and ancho chile cherry syrup.
On Wednesdays, enjoy a three-course dinner with a 25-ounce bottle of premium tequila at Todd English’s MXDC. The table-side service offers guests a bottle of exclusive Patron tequila - imbibe as a shot or incorporate the tequila into a margarita. $75 per person, four person table.
The National Cherry Blossom Festival has officially kicked off; although peak bloom for the blossoms was moved up by a few days, catch all of the festival program scheduling here.
