This Week: Restaurant Week, White Truffle Lobster Rolls, History Happy Hour, Fire & Ice Festival
Restaurant Week is here, and unless you’ve been living under a rock, you were smart enough to make reservations to all of your must-eat places ahead of time. Some of the restaurants that intrigue me: Alhambra, Bresca, and Whaley’s.
Bourbon Steak will be offering brunch service this Sunday, January 20 in honor of its 10th Anniversary. Guests will enjoy an amazing spread of brunch favorites, a Bloody Mary fountain, Bottomless Moet & Chandon bubbles and mimosas, and an epic 10 layer cake. Tickets are $75 and a portion of the proceeds will go towards No Kid Hungry.
Luke’s Lobster is unrolling a special White Truffle Lobster Roll featuring Urbani Truffles as part of their Winter Menu. Enjoy the extra decadent lobster roll drizzled with warm truffle-infused butter now through April 30th.
Bethesda newcomer Delina’s Eritrean Urban Kitchen features a menu of small dishes with plenty of traditional options and vegetarian choices.The portions are packed with flavor and perfect for sharing - at around $5 a dish, guests can select a variety to taste from including: Chicken Tibsi, Beef Tibsi, Chicken Korosho Fit-Fit, Collard Greens, Split Yellow Peas, Red Lentils, Beets and more.
Watch as eight top DC bartenders battle for the title of Top Dog in a cocktail competition benefiting the Humane Rescue Alliance. Bartenders will try to shake their way into the judges and audience’s hearts using a variety of ingredients including Blue Henry and El Silencio Mezcal, all-natural syrups, cotton candy bitters and dried fruit garnishes. Tickets are $20 advance or $30 at the door. January 20, 3-6PM.
Sip on Momofuku’s new winter cocktail menu which includes three hot seasonal drinks:
Spicy Hot Chocolate: bourbon, cayenne, menta marshmallows
Cherry Coffee: amaretto, cherry cordial, coconut
Spiced Apple Cider: calvados, armagnac, cinnamon (which can also be prepared as an non-alcoholic)
All three cocktails are priced at $15.
The Willard’s popular History Happy Hour returns with legendary bartender Jim Hewes slinging cocktails whilst discussing this month’s topic: The Founding Fathers of the NFL: The Untold Story of Five Men Who Turned an Amateur Endeavor into a Multi-Million Dollar Industry. January 17, 6-8PM.
Mosey over to the Wharf to check out the Fire & Ice Festival from Jan.18-19. The 2nd Annual event will feature the Washington Area Fuel Fund (WAFF) Ice House. Feel what it’s like to live in a house with no heat while helping to raise funds for those in need. Located on District Pier, stop by for a chance to win prizes, rub shoulders with local celebs and hang out in the Ice House.
